Saskatoon police said officers had to use a Taser and a beanbag gun after two women allegedly refused to comply during a traffic stop.
Police said just before 4:30 a.m. Monday, officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of 21st Street and Avenue L.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Prince Albert earlier this month, was subsequently stopped at Avenue E North and 26th Street.
The driver, a 26-year-old man from Sturgeon Lake, got out and was arrested without further incident.
Two 29-year-old women from Saskatoon, who were also in the vehicle, refused to comply with the arresting officer’s instructions.
At that point, police used a Taser along with a beanbag gun on the suspects.
The women were taken into custody and checked over by MD Ambulance personnel. They were medically cleared and all three suspects were sent to the police detention centre.
The trio will face charges of possession of stolen property.
One of the women was also found to be in possession of marijuana. They were scheduled to be in court Monday.
Police policy is to review all cases where officers use force.
