Rain, thunder and lightning didn’t stop Saskatoon residents from enjoying the first day of the Saskatoon Ex on Tuesday.
While rides were shut down briefly due to lightning, many waited out the storms to take advantage of shorter lines on a damp day.
“Today’s the day we had to do it, so we’re going to make the best of it no matter what,” said Gio Zelantini, who brought his son Dion to the fair.
“I think we’re making it on enough rides and seeing enough shows to make it worth it.”
Zelantini said they arrived at 12:30 p.m., just as heavy rain was starting to sweep through the area.
Others said the rain added to the fun.
“It’s really wet, but cold and fun,” one group of girls told 650 CKOM. “It’s different.”
Before the rain, the Ex brought horses, floats and Transformers to downtown Saskatoon during the annual Ex Parade.
Mayor Charlie Clark, Fire Chief Morgan Hackl and dozens of others joined in the parade with clowns and other Ex attractions for the hour long procession along 24th Street, 4th Avenue and Spadina Crescent.
