Monday marked the latest court appearance for Ronald Gasser, the now 55-year-old charged with second-degree murder in the road rage shooting that killed Joe McKnight.
Judge Ellen Kovach set a new trial date of Nov. 7, 2017 during a hearing Monday.
On Dec. 1, 2016, McKnight was shot in Terrytown, Louisiana – a suburb of New Orleans.
According to Louisiana’s The Times-Picayune, police say a fit of road rage between the two ended when Gasser shot from inside his car as McKnight approached.
Gasser was arrested at the scene and he was eventually charged. He is pleading not guilty.
The defense is arguing that McKnight was the aggressor.
