Democrat Marcy Kaptur won election Wednesday to the U.S. House of Representatives representing Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, defeating Republican Derek Merrin. Kaptur has long been targeted for defeat by Republicans, but she will now extend her tenure as the longest serving woman in the House. She begins her 23rd term in January. The Associated Press declared Kaptur the winner at 2:53 a.m. EST.
