According to police, the elderly woman was the driver and sole occupant of the SUV. Emergency medical services declared her dead at the scene, and Mounties confirmed that her family has been notified.
The driver and lone occupant of the semi-truck was transported to the hospital by EMS. Investigators described his injuries as non-life-threatening.
The crash forced the temporary closure of Highway 39, though the major route has since reopened to traffic.
Milestone RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
The incident marks another tragic loss on provincial roads this year. Saskatchewan RCMP reported that as of Friday afternoon, there have been 73 fatal collisions resulting in 88 deaths on RCMP-policed roadways in 2026.
