Police in Saskatoon say an impaired driver was arrested after crashing into a police vehicle late Thursday night.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were returning to police headquarters on 25th Street in the unmarked vehicle just before midnight when their vehicle was struck by a civilian driver at the intersection of Idylwyld Drive North and 24th Street East.

“The police vehicle was proceeding through a green light and did not have any emergency equipment activated at the time of the collision,” the police force said in a statement.
“Through continued investigation, it was believed the driver of the civilian vehicle was under the influence of an intoxicant.”
Police said the 20-year-old driver was charged with impaired driving and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit.
No injuries were reported, police added.
