According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers patrolling the northern community stopped a vehicle just after 2 a.m. on Saturday.

“Officers observed drug trafficking paraphernalia and open alcohol in plain view. The vehicle’s three occupants were arrested,” the RCMP said in a statement issued on Thursday.
“During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized over one kilogram of suspected cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.”
Police said a 36-year-old woman has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, along with two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order. She appeared in court in La Ronge on Monday, the Mounties said.
The other two occupants of the car, a 33-year-old woman and 29-year-old man, were both arrested on outstanding warrants related to flight from police and breaking and entering, the RCMP said.
“Proactive patrols are an important part of how we keep our communities safe. In this case, what began as a traffic stop resulted in officers intercepting a significant quantity of dangerous illicit drugs before they could circulate in the community,” Derek Eberle, a staff sergeant with La Ronge RCMP, said in a statement.
“This is a clear example of how proactive policing can have a direct impact on community safety.”
