The Saskatchewan Cattle Association (SCA) has appointed industry veteran Kevin Boon as its new chief executive officer, effective Nov. 1, 2026.
Boon is moving to the Prairies after serving 17 years as general manager of the BC Cattlemen’s Association (BCCA). With more than four decades of experience as a rancher and industry executive, Boon has also held positions with Alberta Beef Producers, the Canadian Cattle Association, the Beef Information Centre, and the Canadian Beef Check-off Agency.
SCA chair Chad Ross notes that Boon’s cross-provincial network will strengthen advocacy for beef producers.
“Kevin has spent his career working for cattle producers, and we see a real opportunity to build on the relationship and experience he brings from the BC Cattlemen’s Association,” says Ross.
“Our provincial organizations face many of the same challenges, and the more we can work together across provincial and national tables, the stronger we can make the cattle industry as a whole.”
BCCA president Alex Kulchar also thanked Boon for his nearly two decades of service representing British Columbia’s cattle sector.
“For 17 years, Kevin has strived to elevate the work BCCA can do for B.C.’s producers, and we would like to convey our gratitude for his dedication to the cattle industry in our province,” says Kulchar.
“Kevin has helped carry the message of B.C. cattlemen, and we appreciate his hard work and wish him all the best.”
Based in Regina, Boon will take the reins from Janice Bruynooghe and Sandy Russell of Spring Creek Land & Cattle Consulting, who served as interim CEOs, and led the organization through a strategic review process.
Grant McLellan was SCA’s CEO from 2022 until early 2025.
