Saskatoon townhouse fire in Blairmore under investigation

Saskatoon fire crews are continuing to investigate a townhouse fire in the city’s Blairmore Suburban Centre neighbourhood Tuesday.

The fire department said it received a report of a fire in the 700 block of Hart Road. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke and flames coming from a second storey window of the home.

A release from the department said the fire was completely extinguished and there were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and the department said an investigator is on the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire and assess the damage.

The incident follows a significant fire at Bethlehem Catholic High School, about 1 km from the Hart Road fire.

That blaze caused significant water and smoke damage, and it is not known if it will delay the start of the school year, scheduled for Sept. 2 and 3.
