Saskatchewan RCMP are advising people to beware of yet another scam surrounding text messages demanding people pay their overdue traffic tickets.
According to RCMP, the texts claim to come from the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan and direct people to a link where they can make an online payment. This money will supposedly pay off those outstanding citations.

These messages were sent using a “+44” area code, which is the international calling code for the United Kingdom.
RCMP said there’s been a cluster of reports about this scam coming from the Prince Albert area.
“Please note that these messages are not legitimate. Saskatchewan RCMP advise the public not to click on any links provided in these messages and not to send payment or personal information,” the law enforcement agency wrote in a media release.
The scam is currently under investigation.
It’s similar to the scam RCMP warned about at the end of July.
Just as with this scam, people were receiving texts from the court asking them to pay for an outstanding traffic citation.
It was reported around Carnduff and Indian Head, though in this instance, the area code was “+21”.
Those who received these scam messages should not text back or send money or gift cards. Instead, they’re encouraged to block the phone number immediately and keep records of the texts.
Receivers are also advised to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Warning issued for Sask. crypto scam
Another scam Saskatchewan residents are being warned to watch out for right now centres around a website called audhjoy and an app named T-AplhaX.
Both falsely claim to be affiliated with T. Rowe Price Group.
The scam claims to offer investment opportunities involving cryptocurrencies and stocks, according to the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA).
“T. Rowe Price Group USA, T-AlphaX, and audhjoy are not registered with the FCAA to trade in or sell securities or derivatives in Saskatchewan,” the FCAA said in a statement.
The organization said investors should always check that an investment firm is registered in the province before sending money.
“Do not make investment decisions based on endorsements in online chat groups or social media,” FCAA securities division executive director Dean Murrison said.
The FCAA also recommended fully understanding an investment product before putting your money into it and seeking professional advice. Unverified individuals also should not be allowed remote access to your computer.
