Three suspects who allegedly “fled from police multiple times after a robbery” have been found and arrested by the Saskatchewan RCMP.
Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a robbery on Sturgeon Lake First Nation around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. Officers determined a man had approached two people, threatened them with a gun and stole their truck. The victims did not report any injuries to police.

Officers found the stolen vehicle on Highway 355 and tried to stop it, but the truck continued “at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic.” According to police, the truck forced other motorists and responding police officers “to take evasive action to avoid collisions.”
The truck drove over a tire deflation device but continued driving with damaged tires for several minutes. It eventually stopped on Sturgeon Lake Road.
The driver of the truck, a man, had a gun and ran away on foot. Police said he shot the gun into the air while he ran away.
Two women were also in the truck. One tried to flee by getting into the driver’s seat and driving the truck away, before stopping at a nearby beach. The women then tried to swim away from police.
“The officers got in the water and arrested them,” the news release stated.
To search for the man, Saskatchewan RCMP called in its critical incident response team, police dog services and remotely piloted aircraft system. He was found hiding in a swamp and a sawed-off firearm was found and seized nearby, according to police.
A 21-year-old man from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, a 29-year-old woman from Prince Albert and a 21-year-old woman from Saskatoon are all facing charges as a result of investigation.
The three all face numerous charges, including robbery, resisting a peace officer, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition without licence or registration, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
The 29-year-old woman and the 21-year-old man both were also arrested on warrants from the Prince Albert RCMP.
The three accused are set to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Aug. 6.
Sask. RCMP noted its warrant enforcement and suppression team and crime reduction team also assisted with the investigation and thanked the Ministry of Public Safety’s provincial protective services for assistance from its conservation officers.
