The owner of Saskatoon’s famous, retro-styled Pink Cadillacs diner on Eighth Street has announced the restaurant will be closing.
In a Facebook post shared on July 25, the diner’s account – Pink Cadillacs & T-Bird Lounge 8th street – announced the closure.

“To our valued customers and friends. We are closing our 8th street location. Our last day of operation is August 28th,” the post read online.
“I want to thank my staff, past and present for helping build a unique retro family diner. Thank you very much to our loyal customers for the past 12 years.’
Jon Tyson, owner of Pink Cadillacs, told 650 CKOM that he is trying to sell the restaurant.
In February 2026, Tyson closed down his restaurant for more than a week to deep-clean after an incident where a customer complained online that she had found a bug in her food.
Tyson made reference to the fallout from that incident in his post online and in comments to 650 CKOM.
“Unfortunately you can’t fight social media as this post will prove,” the post stated.

In a message, Tyson said it’s “time for us to move on,” noting that the closure comes while the restaurant has “a complete bill of health from the SHA.”
Tyson also voiced struggles his restaurant was facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a result of the closures and restrictions on dining and gathering. Previous locations of the restaurant in the Willowgrove and Hampton Village neighbourhoods have already closed.
In the post announcing the restaurant’s closure, Tyson encouraged customers who still have gift certificates to use them before the restaurant closes its doors under his ownership.
“Come by and use your gift certificates and visit the staff. We look forward to seeing you,” the online post said.
