Saskatoon-based Cameco has announced that its subsidiary, Westinghouse Electric, has filed confidential paperwork with the U.S. securities regulator ahead of a potential share offering.
Westinghouse has not yet determined the number of shares or the offering price.

Cameco teamed up with Brookfield Renewable Partners in 2023 to buy Westinghouse, whose technology was said to be the basis for nearly half of the operating nuclear power plants in the world.
Last year, Cameco and Brookfield entered into a partnership with the United States government to help build Westinghouse nuclear reactors.
News of the potential initial public offering comes on the same day Cameco revealed a second-quarter profit of $25 million, down from $321 million for the same period in 2025. The company cited lower equity earnings from its Westinghouse investment.
