A 25-year-old man from Onion Lake is facing a list of charges after allegedly stealing a truck from a good Samaritan following a crash on Wednesday morning.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers were alerted about a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 17, just south of Sandy Beach, at around 6:35 a.m.

“After further investigation, officers determined that after the rollover occurred, the male driver stole a truck from a passerby who had stopped to help at the scene,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“No one else was inside the truck at the time and it fled south on Highway #17.”
Police said the driver of the stolen truck fled when officers caught up and attempted a traffic stop before abandoning the vehicle at a business in Onion Lake.
“The male assaulted an individual at the business and attempted to steal their vehicle. Officers arrived and arrested the male,” the RCMP said.
Police said the man is now facing charges including robbery, motor vehicle theft, assault on a peace officer, impaired driving, driving while prohibited, aggravated assault, dangerous driving and flight from a peace officer.
He appeared in a Lloydminster courtroom on Thursday, the RCMP said.
