Farmers flock to Langham for 2026 Ag in Motion

Saskatchewan farmers might feel like a kid in a candy store this week, with Ag in Motion back in Saskatchewan for another year.

More than 600 exhibitors in the trade show cover more than 100 acres.

Rob O’Connor, show director for Ag in Motion, said while they’ll see a lot of Canadian visitors this year, they’ll also see many international ones.

“We’re expecting 30,000 people over the next three days, including about 300 people from 20 different countries that are coming as buying delegations. We also have about 35 companies that are coming from the U.S. out of 26 different states, and about 10 more companies that are coming from other nations — so the show now has grown into something that attracts people from all around the world,” he said.

O’Connor said the international visitors come from a wide variety of countries, including Australia, Mexico, South Africa, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, China, and Poland.

There’s a wide range of events planned aimed at showcasing new technologies. O’Connor said one of the most exciting things this year is drone spray technology.

“The accuracy of these things is phenomenal and the new opportunities that drones can provide agriculture are so exciting. That’s an area of the show that’s bringing a lot of people and companies,” said O’Connor.

Next on his list would be the crop plots.

“Well, always for Ag in Motion, the crop plots are exciting. There are new traits being unveiled. There’s new science when it comes to fertilization programs or herbicide programs, and even the new genes that are being introduced and new genetic traits,” he said.

He also said the demonstrations are as important as the show itself.

“The different equipment demonstrations that are being presented in the field as well as opportunities to have farmers test drive equipment — whether it’s tractors or new implements, sprayers, and even this year for the first time, Tesla’s coming to Ag in Motion, and you can try a new autonomous car there,” he said.

The show director also talked about the networking side of the event, with farmers getting some face time with each other.

“Farmers can come together and visit, whether it’s in one of the lounges, or one of the demonstration times, or a seminar, and talk with other people who are like-minded, who really love to share their experiences so that each other can learn how to best operate their program and their farm to help the whole agriculture industry get better,” he said.

Ag-in-Motion will run from July 21 to 23 in Langham, Sk. The event is open each day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
