Police in Saskatoon were busy on Wednesday, responding to a pair of armed robberies at liquor stores, as well as another incident involving bear spray on a city bus.
According to police, officers were called to the area of 23rd Street West and Avenue H North at around 2:45 p.m. for a report of an injured person.

“Upon arrival, officers located two victims; one of which was suffering the effects of bear spray,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Further investigation found that the victims had been riding a city bus when it stopped at a bus stop at 23rd Street West and Avenue H North. As the victims began to exit, they were bear sprayed by two unknown suspects who were also exiting the bus.”
Police said the suspects were gone by the time the officers arrived.
The case marks at least the third bear spraying on or outside Saskatoon Transit buses this month, after police previously described incidents that occurred on April 2 and April 8.
Man arrested after alleged robbery on 33rd Street West
Officers were called to a business on 33rd Street West at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a robbery.
“Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had entered the business and began loading several bottles of alcohol into a duffel bag,” the police force said in a statement.
“When confronted, the suspect brandished a bladed weapon and fled in a silver Mazda.”
Police said officers spotted the vehicle on Confederation Drive a short time later, and a 20-year-old man matching the suspect’s description was arrested in a traffic stop.
The stolen booze was found inside the vehicle, police said, along with a baton and a machete.
Police said the man has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for the purpose of an offence and committing an indictable offence while wearing a mask.
Suspect gets away with alcohol after robbery on Primrose Drive
Police said officers were called to a business on Primrose Drive at around 8:30 p.m. for a reported robbery.
“Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had entered the business, selected multiple bottles of alcohol, and attempted to leave without paying,” the police force said.
“When confronted, the suspect produced a knife and threatened a staff member prior to fleeing with the stolen merchandise.”
Police said officers searched the area for the suspect, but came up empty.
