A 24-year-old man from the Red Earth Cree Nation is facing a charge of attempted murder after a shooting on Tuesday evening.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers were called to the Cree nation northeast of Carrot River at around 5 p.m., where they found the male victim. He was taken to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries, police said.

“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two males outside a residence on Red Earth Cree Nation,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“During the altercation, one of the males discharged a firearm, injuring the second male. The male suspect then fled from the area on foot.”
Police said the 24-year-old suspect was arrested later on Tuesday. He’s now facing charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of weapons contrary to an order and possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized.
The RCMP said he appeared in court on Wednesday, and is scheduled to appear before a judge in Carrot River on April 9.
