Police in Saskatoon say a 32-year-old woman was left seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked by a person wielding a machete on Tuesday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the 300 block of Avenue C South, in the city’s Riversdale neighbourhood, at around 3:40 a.m. after getting a report about the alleged assault.

“Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the 32-year-old woman; she was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were later determined to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
The suspect was not at the scene when the officers arrived, police said. No description was shared, but the police force asked anyone with information that could help the investigation to contact police or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Man bear sprayed during attempted mugging: Police
Police say a man was bear sprayed on Tuesday evening during an attempted robbery.
According to police, the man had purchased alcohol and was walking home in the area of Avenue W South and 20th Street West at around 11:45 p.m. when an unknown man approached him and attempted to rob him, spraying him with bear spray and hitting him in the face before fleeing.
Police said the attempted robbery is under investigation.
