DNA evidence led police in Saskatoon to lay charges in a sexual assault case dating all the way back to 2001.
According to police, officers were called to a home on Avenue E North in September of that year after a girl reported being the victim of sexual assault.

“A sexual assault kit was collected at the time of the incident, and in March 2026, Saskatoon Police were notified that a DNA match had been identified,” the police force said in a statement.
“Further investigation located the 52-year-old suspect, and on March 24, 2026, he was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Wearing a Disguise during Commission of an Offence, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, and Mischief.”
Police said the man was scheduled to appear in provincial court on Wednesday morning.
