Old Man Winter doesn’t want to let his icy grip on Saskatchewan go — at least not for the next several days.
On the heels of freezing rain warnings in much of South Central Saskatchewan Friday night, there’s more snow on the way for areas like Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert on Saturday and Sunday nights, according to Keane Kokolsky, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

“We’re still seeing … that kind of clash between the warm air and the cooler moving through most of the area right now, but the the cool air is going to be making its way in there, and things will transition to snowfall,” he said.
That snowfall will continue on and off for much of the weekend, with some areas receiving several inches by Monday.
“Generally, I would probably say kind of roughly between five to 10 centimeters, maybe some locally higher amounts, and some some elevated areas over higher terrain,” he added.
Temperatures will remain near the freezing mark until at least mid-week, as another weather system then makes its way through the province, bringing more snow once again.
“Potentially mid-week there looks like another system that could come through, dropping another, I want to say, potentially upwards of 10 centimetres or more of snow to the region,” he explained.
Snowfall amounts could change depending on the area of the province, and Kokolsky’s best advice is simply to monitor local weather forecasts for potential weather and travel related warnings.
As for keeping city streets clear, according to the city of Saskatoon, at least five cm of snow must fall before crews are called out to clear streets and highways. The City of Regina doesn’t list a specific amount of snow that must fall before crews begin to clear roads.
