A dog is safe after falling into a manhole in Moose Jaw, thanks to a careful rescue by local firefighters.
Fire chief Rod Montgomery said crews were called to the old Wild Animal Park area just after 5 p.m. on Sunday. Inside an abandoned shed, a dog named Jesse had fallen about 10 feet into a manhole.

“The crew was able to get down there and pull the dog out, so it was a good outcome,” Montgomery said.
“They took their time, set up the proper lanyards and ropes and went down and got the dog.”
Montgomery said the canine appeared to be in good condition after the rescue.
“He seemed to be in good spirits after getting out of that manhole,” he said.
The fire chief said calls like this matter to firefighters.
“It’s pretty satisfying for them when they can help out a pet like that. It’s a good feeling for sure,” Montgomery said.
