Highway 11 overpass, lanes closed after damage from semi entering Saskatoon

Lanes heading into Saskatoon from Regina are closed after a semi with a trailer damaged the Circle Drive overpass on Highway #11.

Saskatoon’s Highway #11 northbound lanes into the city limits and Circle Drive eastbound lanes over the bridge are now closed until further notice because of the damage.

A release from the Saskatoon Police service reported that the semi was carrying a piece of equipment in the northbound lane of Highway #11 from Regina entering the city limits. Police said the load was too high for the overpass structure and caused “significant damage.”

City of Saskatoon engineers have to assess the damage to determine whether its safe for travel before the affected roads can reopen, according to police.

For the time being, drivers are being asked to find alternate routes.
