Heavy metal legends Megadeth played a concert in Saskatoon last month, and it appears the band filmed a new music video in the Bridge City at the same time.
The video shows the band’s Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari skating laps around the Meewasin Skating Rink adjacent to the iconic Bessborough hotel while playing the song “Let There Be Shred” from the band’s brand-new album on his Gibson Explorer.

Mäntysaari appears to be a seasoned skater, moving forwards and backwards in a Megadeth-branded hockey jersey while a guitar-mounted camera captures his blazing-fast fretting. In a social media post, the band credited Cameron Nunez for the videography.
“Can we add shredding on ice to the next Olympics?” the metal group asked in the post.
In addition to the rink and the hotel, the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Spadina Crescent can be seen in the background of the video.

Fittingly, the video was released during the first ever Metal Week in Saskatchewan, which was proclaimed by the provincial government.
The video, shared to Megadeth’s YouTube channel, has already amassed thousands of views, with one commenter saying the band managed to combine his two great passions – metal and hockey.
Discover Saskatoon CEO Steph Pocha thought the video was “incredibly impressive, cool and beautiful.”
“There’s something magical about seeing Saskatoon through the eyes of artists. When global performers choose to create here it speaks to the quiet power of this place. We’re thrilled for the exposure and proud that our landscape continues to inspire creativity on an international stage,” said Pocha in an email statement.
