According to the RCMP, Mounties in the Swift Current area seized a huge cache of illegal cigarettes after the pallets of tobacco products were flagged by Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers conducting inspections at a weigh scale on Highway 1 on Saturday.

“Officers located and seized 26 pallets of illegal cigarettes in the semi trailer,” the Saskatchewan RCMP said in a statement issued on Friday.
“It’s estimated the pallets contained about 7.2 million cigarettes.”
Police said two men from Brampton, Ont. – ages 24 and 28 – were arrested. They’ve each been hit with three charges related to unlawful possession of tobacco and are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Swift Current in April.
