Prince Albert Police Service received 417 reports of stolen vehicles in 2025, a 29 per cent increase over 2024.
“In January 2026, there were 41 reported vehicle thefts, which is 16 more than the same time frame in 2025,” said the police in a statement.

According to police, 122 of those thefts occurred in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The police force said it always fields more reports of vehicle thefts when the weather gets colder, and reminded the public to never leave vehicles running while unattended. Police suggested using a remote starter or staying inside the vehicle as it warms up.
Police advised the public to ensure vehicles are always locked with the windows and doors closed when unattended, including after a using a remote starter. The police force also encouraged the use of a steering wheel lock, as well as parking in well-lit areas after dark.
The police force also advised drivers to remove all valuables from their vehicles whenever they are left unattended, including shopping packages and garage door openers.
