The Saskatoon Police Service said its officers and staff are grieving the sudden death of an off-duty police officer on Wednesday.
The police force did not name the officer or disclose the circumstances around the death, but a number of organizations have shared condolences with the police force and the broader Saskatoon community.

“We are deeply saddened to hear the news our brothers and sisters at the Saskatoon Police Service received today,” the Prince Albert Police Association said in a social media post on Wednesday.
“Our thoughts are with you all and we extend our deepest condolences to the friends, colleagues and loved ones affected at this time.”
Regina Paramedics with Heart organization said it is deeply saddened by the loss of a Saskatoon police officer.
“We know this all too well and how absolutely heart breaking it is for colleagues, family and friends,” the group wrote. “Our hearts are with you all in this devastating loss.”
The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations said in a media release that its thoughts are with the officer’s family, friends and those affected by the loss.
“The passing of any individual who has committed their life to serving and protecting the community is deeply felt across all Nations and communities,” the First Nations group wrote.
