8:30 – Hundreds of Albertans lined up in Calgary yesterday to sign a petition pushing for a referendum on separation from Canada. The independence movement is gaining steam with events and petition stops across the province, but is separation the only option, or can Alberta and Ottawa find a way to work things out? Evan welcomes Brian Lilley, political columnist for the Toronto Sun, to weigh in on the debate.
LQ: Should Alberta separate? Does it make sense? Should we?
9:00 – Evan goes to the phones to chat with listeners about what’s on their minds today. Call 1-877-332-8255.
9:30– Loyalty programs are offering more ways than ever to move your points — but more choice doesn’t always mean more value. To walk us through when a transfer is worth it and when it’s not Evan is joined by Barry Choi, loyalty expert, you can find him on Instagram @barry_choi.
LQ: What’s the best — or worst — way you’ve ever used your points?
10:00 – Evan catches up with Regina’s Chief of Police, Lorilee Davies, to talk about local crime statistics, how the city is doing in 2026 and what information people in Regina should be aware of.
10:30 – We’ve been talking about Alberta separatism after reports of long lines in Calgary to sign a referendum petition. A new Ipsos study shows that while about three in 10 Albertans and Quebecers say they’d support separation, only half stay committed once real-world costs are considered. To discuss these findings, Evan is joined by Gregory Jack, Senior Vice President of Ipsos Public Affairs.
LQ: Do you think 1 in 3 Albertans really want to separate or do they just want to get the attention of Ontario?
11:00 – You’re quick & clever! And for some weird reason you’ve carried the right answer in your head for years. Or maybe you just trust Uncle Google. It’s time for Saskatchewan’s Smartest Radio Listener for Little Town Apparel — your chance for fame and acclaim and to prove just how smart you are. Not only do you get bragging rights, you’ll win prizes too! Call 1-877-332-8255 to play!
11:30 – Cart Narcs is a YouTube channel known for confronting people who leave their shopping carts in parking lots instead of returning them. Doesn’t that drive you crazy! So they film these funny but also tense interactions. It’s ridiculous but it also highlights the issues of courtesy and responsibility in public spaces. There is also something called shopping cart theory which basically states returning a shopping cart to its proper spot is the ultimate, low-stakes litmus test for someone’s morality and self control.
LQ: What is the worst thing you’ve ever seen someone do with a shopping cart and have you confronted anyone about their bad shopping cart habits? We want to hear your stories 1-877-332-8255.
12:00 – The news is filled with stories about war and conflict around the world. But it doesn’t just affect the people living there, it ripples far beyond the borders. Canadian author, Andrée Poulin, joins the show to talk about her latest book Planting Sunshine, which follows the story of a little boy who is horrified by the violence he sees on his TV screen. She will talk about the book, its inspiration and how we can talk to young people about conflict and peace.
LQ: Do you talk to your children about war and conflict? How?
