RCMP said animal rescue agencies were alerted to address the safety of the animals.
In a social media post, SOS Prairie Rescue said the home it responded to was one of the worst living conditions its ever seen.
“We crawled through garbage piled nearly five feet high,” the rescue said in a post. “Heads lowered intentionally to avoid the filthy ceiling.
“Moving on hands and knees, slowly, patiently, earning the trust of cats so they could be brought to safety. The smell is indescribable.”
In the post on Monday, it said about 35 cats had been trapped and removed from the home.

The organization said Mozart Animal Sanctuary, SOS Prairie Rescue, SCAT Street Cat Rescue, and the Saskatchewan RCMP all responded to the home, and they are working on re-homing the cats into care.
“At the centre of situations like the one we responded to are people — people who deserve dignity, compassion, and care,” read the post.
“Homes like this don’t exist in isolation, and they are not created by cruelty.
“They are most often the result of people struggling without access to support, services, or early intervention.”
