Big Island Lake Cree Nation residents will notice more police presence as the RCMP investigates multiple reports of “sound of a firearm being discharged,” said the Pierceland RCMP statement.
At about 10:50 p.m. on Friday, officers said they received the reports.

After Pierceland RCMP immediately responded and searched the area, no injured persons were found, said the Mounties.
“Part of this will be determining if there is any connection to the December 30 shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation, which remains under active investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime investigators.”
Anyone with information about either investigation is urged to contact police or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers immediately.
Further updates will be provided as they become available, noted the RCMP.
“If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public.”
Saskatchewan RCMP say Major Crimes investigators are still working to identify and locate suspects in a shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation that caused one dead and three injured and prompted a dangerous persons alert Tuesday.
A 31-year-old male was identified as the shooting victim.
The suspects were last seen riding an all-terrain vehicle, but no further details have been provided.
