A 36-year-old man spent New Year’s Eve in hospital with serious injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a man armed with a machete.
According to police, the alleged attacker entered an apartment suite on 22nd Street West, in the city’s Mount Royal neighbourhood, just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, where he assaulted the male victim with a machete.

“The suspect fled prior to police arrival,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“The 36-year-old victim was transported to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.”
The case is under investigation by the city’s Serious Assault Unit, police said, and anyone with information that could help was encouraged to contact police or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
