“Investigation determined a male locked a female in a room at the residence. The male later entered the room with a firearm. An interaction occurred between the male and female, and the female was injured. The firearm was not discharged,” the RCMP explained in a statement.
“The female was taken to a medical clinic with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. Pelican Narrows RCMP arrested the male at the residence.”
As part of the police investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the home. During a search on Christmas Eve, the RCMP said officers seized the drugs along with a sawed-off gun, a machete, gun parts and an undisclosed sum of cash.
“Two females and a male were arrested at the residence,” the RCMP noted.
As a result of the assault investigation and the subsequent seizures, police said a 26-year-old man from Prince Albert has been charged with aggravated assault, forcible confinement, using a firearm during the commission of a crime, possessing weapons contrary to a court order, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
A 45-year-old woman from Pelican Narrows, meanwhile, is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Both people appeared in court in Prince Albert on Tuesday, police said, while the other two people who were arrested during the investigation were released without charges.
