Christmas holidays means changes to Saskatoon’s city services and facilities on Thursday and Friday.
City Hall will be closed on Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but will be open at 8 a.m. on Dec. 29 and Jan. 2.

Landfill and compost
The Material Recovery Centre and landfill is closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Live Christmas trees can be dropped off for a fee at Sort & Go from December 26 to January 31 at 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The compost depot is closed for the season.
Garbage, recycling and organics collections that are scheduled for Christmas and New Year’s Day, will be collected the following Saturday. All other collection days remain unchanged and will operate as scheduled, the city noted on its website.
Transit service
Fixed-route transit will run with holiday service hours on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (normal fares apply).
Route 1225, the “Jingle Bell Express,” will provide free service on Dec. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
On New Year’s Eve, Saskatoon Transit and Access Transit will offer free service on all routes from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
On-demand transit will not be available Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
Access Transit will operate on holiday service hours on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The city noted that trips must be booked ahead of time as per normal procedures.
The Transit Customer Service Centre will be closed for walk-in customers on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1, but phones will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Cemetery
The Woodlawn Cemetery office is closed on Dec. 25 and 26. The cemetery grounds are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily as usual.
Parking
Parking metres are not in effect on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The city’s pay parking will require payment on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
Zoo and recreation
The Forestry Farm Park and Zoo will be closed on Christmas Day, but will be open regular hours on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Regular zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Forestry Farm Park is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre is closed for facility upgrades.
The Lakewood Civic Centre, Lawson Civic Centre, Saskatoon Field House, Terry Fox Track and Shaw Centre are all closed Christmas Day.
The Lakeview Civic Centre also be open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day and on New Year’s Day from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Lawson Civic Centre will also be open for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Boxing Day, the facility will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on New Year’s Day it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Shaw Centre will be also open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Boxing Day, the centre will be open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., and it will operate from noon to 8:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
The Terry Fox Track will be closed Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but will be open New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Remai Modern art gallery will be closed at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The museum will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day, but will be open on Boxing Day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Public skating
On Christmas Eve, public skating at Cosmo runs from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Parent & Tot Skating at Archibald will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
All rinks will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
On Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, public skating at Cosmo will be available 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
On New Year’s Eve, Parent & Tot Skating will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
