It’s not surprising that the Saskatchewan RCMP want to identify a masked man who was seen carrying a jerry can on surveillance footage at the time of a suspicious fire in Fox Valley.
According to the RCMP, the fire at a home on Centre Street was reported just before 3 a.m. on Nov. 22. The home was engulfed in flames when the officers arrived, the RCMP said, but the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The fire was quickly ruled suspicious, the RCMP said, and officers canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
“Officers collected footage of an individual, believed to be male, walking down the street in the direction of the residence carrying a jerry can,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“Shortly after, the male is seen running in the opposite direction down the street. Video was also captured of the male in a truck. The truck is described as a mid-90’s to early 2000’s light grey/silver lifted pick-up truck.”
The man was seen wearing overalls, dark clothing and a face covering in the images, the Mounties said.

Anyone who recognizes the man or his truck, or has any information that could help the investigation, was asked to contact the Saskatchewan RCMP or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
The RCMP noted that while officers are also investigating a fire at a business in Leader that broke out on Oct. 26, police do not believe the two fires are connected.
