A 20-year-old Saskatoon man found himself in handcuffs on Tuesday after allegedly trying to steal a teenager’s jacket while menacing him with a knife in broad daylight.
According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of 23rd Street East, which is home to the city’s downtown transit terminal, at around 4 p.m.

“A 17 year old male reported being approached by an unknown man who showed a knife and demanded the youth’s jacket,” police said in a statement. “The youth was able to walk away and call police.”
The teenager was not hurt during the attempted robbery, police noted.
Officers arriving at the scene found the suspect nearby, police said, and he was found to be carrying a foot-long knife up his sleeve, with another knife in his backpack.
Police said the man is now facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching a probation order.
