A Saskatoon construction company is facing a six-figure fine after pleading guilty to two violations of Saskatchewan’s occupational health and safety regulations.
According to the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, 3Twenty Modular pleaded guilty this month to failing to ensure that cranes, hoists, rigging and lifting devices are designed, constructed, installed, maintained and operated to safely perform any task for which they are used. The company also pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that any worker permitted to assembly, use, maintain or dismantle rigging is trained in safe practices.

Two other charges were stayed by a Saskatoon Provincial Court judge, the ministry noted.
The ministry said the charges stemmed from an incident in July of 2023, when a wall at a construction site fell and landed on a worker’s leg, causing a serious injury.
The court imposed a fine of $35,714.29 on each count, along with a surcharge of $14,285.71, bringing the total payment up to $100,000.
