A 19-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges after an alleged assault and robbery on a city bus on Saturday.
According to police, officers were called to the intersection of 20th Street West and Avenue J South at around 9:30 p.m. after getting a report of a fight on a Saskatoon Transit bus.

“Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old male and an 18-year-old female who had been assaulted and had a sweater and cell phone taken,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Officers located the 19 year old nearby and brought him into custody.”
Police said the two victims suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening during the alleged attack.
The 19-year-old man is now facing two charges of robbery, along with an additional charge of breaching a probation order.
“The incident is not believed to be random in nature,” police said.
Early this year, the City of Saskatoon unveiled a plan to add more community support workers to Transit buses in an effort to reduce the number of violent incidents on public transportation in the city. The move followed a number of complaints from passengers and the city’s transit union.
Teen boy, 14, charged after attempted armed robbery: Police
A teen boy is facing robbery and weapons charges after allegedly trying to rob a Fairlight Drive convenience store on Sunday morning.
Police said the teen entered the store at around 1 a.m. and started stuffing items into his pockets. When he was confronted by an employee, police said the boy “deployed bear spray and fled on foot.”
Officers in the area spotted the boy as he was attempting to make his escape, police said, and he was arrested nearby.
“The staff members suffered non life-threatening physical injuries, consistent with the effects of bear spray,” the police force said in a statement.
“The 14 year old is facing a charge of Robbery and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.”
Police investigate robbery on 22nd Street West
Officers are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery that took place on Sunday evening.
According to police, officers were called to a business on 22nd Street West at around 9 p.m. after getting a report that a man wearing a hoodie entered the store, smashed a glass display case using a took and fled with stolen merchandise.
“The male is described as wearing a dark blue hoodie with grey or light blue trim on the hood, black pants and shoes. He was wearing a mask and gloves at the time,” police said in a statement.
“The staff members were not physically injured during the incident.”
