The Toronto Blue Jays lived to play another day on Sunday night, beating the Seattle Mariners 6-2 to force a final and winner-takes-all Game 7 in the ALCS.
With their World Series hopes on the line, a strong Blue Jays offence was backed up impressive pitching from rookie starter Trey Yesavage, who made his MLB debut on Sept. 15 and pitched in only three regular season games.

The 22-year-old Yesavage retired the first six batters he faced, sending four back to the dugout by strikeouts, and kept Seattle scoreless through five innings, notching up a total of seven strikeouts. The Jays’ defence pulled off three consecutive inning-ending double plays to help him along.
Yesavage left after giving up a two-out home run to Josh Naylor in the sixth, with Louis Varland and then Jeff Hoffman sealing the deal.
It was a record night, too, for slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who tied Jose Bautista and Joe Carter for most post-season home runs in team history with his sixth, hit in the fifth inning, earning an ovation from the 44,764 fans at Rogers Centre. Addison Barger also homered in the game.
Daulton Varsho, Ernie Clement and Isiah Kiner-Falefa also made contributions to the win.
Game 7 will be played at the Rogers Centre tomorrow night, with first pitch at 6:08 p.m., with a lot at stake for both teams: The Blue Jays have not had an appearance in the World Series since 1993, and the Mariners have never been to the big show.
