Police said the shooting happened during “an altercation between a group of individuals,” and the two suspects fled in a vehicle.
The RCMP said officers located the vehicle, but said the driver attempted to flee before ultimately stopping on an off-road trail where both occupants were arrested.
Police said 25-year-old Christopher Nolan is facing charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm while prohibited, while 31-year-old Kelsey Iron is charged with acting as an accessory to murder after the fact and fleeing from police.
Both Nolan and Iron are expected to appear in court in Meadow Lake on Monday, the Mounties said.
