Sask. RCMP hunt for Prince Albert man charged with Rose Valley murder

Saskatchewan Mounties are searching for a Prince Albert man who has been charged with second-degree murder after a suspicious death in Rose Valley on Nov. 5.

Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release on Nov. 8 that officers are looking for 58-year-old Steven Kishayinew, who faces the charge in connection with the death of 66-year-old Willard Buckle of Rose Valley.

Police said officers were called last Thursday around 11 a.m. when local detachments received an emergency report of an injured person.

Rose Valley RCMP officers rushed to a home on Railway Avenue North, where they discovered Buckle’s body.

The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit took control of the case and after a three-day investigation, authorities secured a warrant for Kishayinew’s arrest, but he remains at large.

Investigators warn that Kishayinew may be armed and must be considered dangerous. Members of the public are advised not to approach him under any circumstances.

Kishayinew is described as 5-foot-10 and weighs roughly 220 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, with visible tattoos on his left forearm and a distinct bear paw tattoo on his left hand. Police noted his physical appearance may have recently changed.

RCMP said the suspect may be travelling in a maroon-coloured 2008 GMC Sierra truck displaying Saskatchewan licence plate 389 MQY.

Police said Kishayinew is known to frequent or travel to Prince Albert, Regina, Rose Valley, and Fishing Lake First Nation.

Anyone who spots Kishayinew, locates his vehicle, or has information regarding his current whereabouts is urged to call their local police service immediately.
