“Preliminary investigation has determined that the deceased male and female were members of the same family,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“As a result of initial investigation, it is believed the 51-year-old female’s death is suspicious in nature. The 53-year-old male’s death is not believed to be suspicious in nature. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.”
The RCMP said police are not seeking any suspects in connection with the deaths, and the police force does not expect to issue any updates on the case.
“The Homicide Investigation Unit is not seeking additional individuals related to this incident and we do not anticipate having further updates related to the investigation as no charges will be laid,” the RCMP said.
“Investigators advise there is no risk to public safety in relation to this incident.”
The RCMP did not identify either of the deceased individuals, citing privacy obligations.
“Their family members have been notified and victim services made available to them,” the Mounties added.
The RCMP advised the public that there will be an increased police presence in the area around Beechy as investigators complete their work.
