The reeve of the RM of Montrose says the road where human remains were found inside a burned vehicle southwest of Saskatoon sees hundreds of cars a day.
According to Warman RCMP, at around 3:45 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a fire on O’Malley Road, six kilometres south of Pike Lake in the RM of Montrose.

The Montrose Fire Department extinguished the fire, and according to police, human remains were found in the vehicle.
Reeve Judy Curren said the area is a “popular stretch” of freshly paved road, with acreages and houses nearby, that carries around 340 vehicles a day.
Curren said this is the first major incident of its kind to happen in the municipality that she is aware of.
“I just want to commend our volunteer firefighters for responding, and that is unfortunately a part of the job,” she said.
She said that while the RM isn’t involved in the investigation, she encourages anyone with information to come forward.
“I guess if somebody did see something, I would encourage them to contact the RCMP with any details they might have,” she said.
“Sometimes the smallest thing is a piece that they need.”
RCMP investigators are working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to determine the cause of death and identify the person.
