Three people are facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly attacking a 15-year-old boy with a machete in Regina.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Fourth Avenue and Connaught Street at around 1 p.m. on Friday, where they found the injured teen, “who had been assaulted by three males armed with a machete.” Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital by paramedics, adding that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

“The investigation determined that following the initial assault, the three suspects continued walking through the area and became involved in a verbal confrontation with two other male youths,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
“During the altercation, both youths were sprayed with bear spray and sustained minor injuries. The suspects then fled the area.”
Police said officers caught up with the three suspects in the 1300 block of Robinson Street, where all were arrested without further incident.
All three suspects – ages 20, 17 and 16 – are facing two counts of aggravated assault and an additional charge of assault with a weapon, police said. The 20-year-old man was also charged with wearing a disguise with intent, while the 16-year-old boy was additionally charged with failing to comply with the conditions of a release order.
