The preliminary inquiry for Chris Fahlman began Monday in Weyburn Provincial Court. Fahlman is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Weyburn’s Tanya Myers.
The court has allocated approximately two weeks for the hearing, until Oct. 29. It will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for Fahlman to stand trial. If he is ordered to stand trial, the case will proceed to the Court of King’s Bench, where all murder trials are heard.

All evidence collected in the case will be presented during the proceedings, including witness testimony and cross-examination.
Myers, 44, was shot and killed on the evening of Sept. 12, 2025, while riding as a passenger in an SUV travelling toward Weyburn on Highway 39.
Fahlman was arrested on Nov. 1, 2025, and denied bail later that month. He appealed the decision, but the appeal was denied in July 2026. He remains in custody.
Fahlman appeared in court in person. His appearance has changed since he was last in Weyburn for his bail hearing. His hair was cut short, and his facial hair shaved to just a goatee. He wore a blue dress shirt and dress pants in the courtroom.
The Honourable Judge Mitch Miller is presiding over the hearing. Fahlman is represented by defence lawyer Aleida Oberholzer, and the Crown Prosecutors are Andrew Campbell and David Belanger.
