Street sweepers will be heading into some Saskatoon neighbourhoods starting Tuesday, aiming to keep the roads clear of leaves and debris to reduce the potential for flooding in the spring.
The street sweep will focus on “Saskatoon’s leafiest neighbourhoods,” the city said, which include Buena Vista, Caswell Hill, City Park, Exhibition, Holiday Park, King George, Mayfair, Nutana and Riversdale.

A list of the days when streets are scheduled to be swept can be found on the city’s website.
“Leaves that accumulate along streets can clog storm drains and catch basins, creating a risk of flooding when the snow melts,” Cam LeClaire, roadways manager for the City of Saskatoon, said in a statement.
“By sweeping the leafiest streets before winter, we help protect City infrastructure and keep neighbourhoods safer and cleaner for everyone.”
Residents can help the work go smoothly by removing leaves from sidewalks and boulevards without piling them in the street, the city said, noting that large piles slow down the street sweepers.
“During the sweep, watch for temporary yellow No Parking signs and move vehicles from the street by 7:00 a.m. on your sweep day,” the city added.
“Vehicles left in signed areas may be ticketed or towed.”
If a vehicle is towed, the city said the owner can track it down using the online Find My Vehicle tool or by calling the city directly.
