The Regina Thunder won a battle of the kickers on Saturday night in Saskatoon, locking up the top spot in the Prairie Football Conference.
Harry Case made six field goals for the visiting Thunder, helping Regina beat Saskatoon 19-6 in their second meeting of the season.
Neither side found the end zone in a defensive battle at SMF Field, with Hilltops kicker Ryden Gratton scoring Saskatoon’s lone points of the night in the loss.

The Hilltops held Regina’s potent offence off the scoreboard early and took a 3-0 lead into the second quarter, but Case hit back-to-back field goals in the final minute before halftime to put the Thunder ahead 9-6 at the break.
Case’s fourth field goal of the night came midway through the third quarter to make it 12-6 for Regina, who added two more field goals in the fourth quarter and a rouge off a missed attempt by Case to secure the win.
While the Hilltops defence held Regina’s offence in check, the Thunder moved to 7-0 on the season and clinched first place in the conference with one game remaining before the playoffs.
Regina will close out its regular-season schedule on Oct. 4, when it hosts the Calgary Colts at Leibel Field.
The Thunder have now swept the season series between the provincial rivals after a 37-13 victory back on Sept. 12 in Regina, with the loss dropping the Hilltops’ record to 4-3 on the year.
Saskatoon’s final regular season game will also be held on Oct. 4 against the Winnipeg Rifles at SMF Field.
