Masked teen arrested after robbery at Saskatoon business: Police

A 16-year-old Saskatoon boy is facing a robbery charge after allegedly stealing from a local business while wearing a ski mask.

According to police, officers were called to the business in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West at around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday after getting a report of a robbery in progress.

“Upon arrival officers learned that a male wearing a hoodie and a ski mask was in the store when he began stealing items,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.

“He threatened a staff member who attempted to stop him, before he fled on foot.”

Police said officers found a backpack nearby that contained items from the store, and they later located and arrested the teen suspect, who was “still wearing the ski mask.”

The teen is now facing charges of robbery and wearing a disguise with intent, police said.

Loaded shotgun seized after arrest on 20th Street, police say

Police said a man who was carrying a loaded shotgun was arrested on Tuesday night.

According to police, officers conducting a firearm investigation arrested the man on 20th Street West just before midnight.

“The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended,” police said.

The 31-year-old man is now facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, breaching court-imposed conditions and “multiple firearms-related offences,” the police force said.

Woman ticketed after crash involving motorcycle

A 62-year-old woman was handed a ticket for failing to yield on Wednesday morning after a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle.

Police said officers were called to 105th Street East just before 10 a.m.

“The woman was operating her SUV when it collided with a motorcycle driven by a 22 year old man,” police said in a statement.

“He was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.”
