Saskatoon men charged in synagogue egging, child sex assault cases miss court

The man accused of assaulting five children at St. Mary’s School and the man who has admitted to throwing eggs at a Saskatoon synagogue both had their first court appearances on Wednesday.

Neither man physically attended his first appearance, however.

Sahrapour is facing 10 charges — five counts of sexual assault and five counts of assault — for incidents allegedly committed against five 10-year-old students at St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre in Saskatoon.

The incidents allegedly happened during the last school year, between September 2025 and May 2026.

Saskatoon police said the alleged crimes happened between Sept. 1, 2025 and May 25 of this year, involving five separate victims “that were approximately 10 years of age at the time of the offences.” (St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre/Facebook)

In court on Wednesday, Sahrapour’s case was adjourned to Oct. 8, with the defence citing the need for time to review disclosure.

The Crown elected to proceed summarily on all 10 charges against Sahrapour.

On Wednesday, the Crown said it would proceed summarily on the three charges of mischief under $5,000 that Clarke is facing.

The Crown also said the accused is currently in treatment and mediation is not on the table for the case.

Clarke has reportedly accepted “full responsibility” for the incident on Aug. 1, according to Pfefferle, when he allegedly took a carton of eggs and threw them at multiple vehicles and sections of the Congregation Agudas Israel on McKinnon Avenue in Saskatoon.

On Aug. 13, Clarke turned himself in at police headquarters and was later released on conditions.

Later in August, Pfefferle shared a statement on behalf of Clarke, stating that the act was “alcohol-induced,” though the 31-year-old man from Dundurn has since realized how he “caused genuine fear.”

In the statement, Pfefferle said Clarke was remorseful and working with members of the synagogue community to make amends.

Clarke is scheduled to appear in provincial court next on Nov. 4.
