Blaze beside Saskatoon retail store quelled by firefighters

A large pallet fire at Confederation Canadian Tire in Saskatoon on Saturday night was quickly extinguished by city firefighters.

Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) said in the news release on Sept. 5 that crews were called to Confederation Drive around 7:48 pm and found pallets stacked outside the rear of the store ablaze.

SFD said a large stack of both wooden and plastic pallets were burning against an exterior wall of the store, but an “aggressive offensive fire attack” brought fire under control in 10 minutes.

The department said the interior of store had light smoke damage and there were no injuries.

A fire investigator is looking at the cause and origin of the blaze and working out a damage estimate.
