A man’s leg was amputated after an incident involving a grain auger at a grain terminal just southeast of Regina.
Paul Fischer, Kronau’s fire chief, told 980 CJME that firefighters responded to a conveyor entrapment at the Lajord Inland Terminal at around 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 19.

The Kronau Fire Department said the man had to have his leg removed in an emergency field amputation, and he was then airlifted to hospital by a STARS helicopter.
Firefighters were on the scene for more than three hours on Wednesday, the fire department added.
Canada Occupational Health and Safety told CJME News in a statement that the Labour Program is conducting an investigation under the Canada Labour Code to “confirm the employer’s jurisdiction and gather the details surrounding the incident.”
For confidentiality reasons, the Labour Program cannot release information related to specific inspections, investigations, employers or workers, media relations officer Marie-Claude Chiasson said in the statement.
