Leading the pack are University of Saskatchewan Huskies basketball great Andrew Spagrud and University of Regina Cougars standout Chris Biegler.
Spagrud played with the Huskies for five years between 2003 and 2008, where he dominated the conference to finish as the all-time leading scorer for not only the program, but all of Canada West.
His record of 2,182 career points has not been eclipsed, and Spagrud captured Canada West Player of the Year honours after his 2004-05 season.
The Saskatoon product also took home the Canada West and CIS Rookie of the Year awards in 2003-04, while being named a CIS All-Canadian in four of his five seasons with the Huskies.

He’ll be joined in the athlete category by Biegler, who began his university basketball career with the Huskies in 1985.
Following a transfer to his hometown program, Biegler became one of the top players in Cougars history as a three-time All-Canadian and the only athlete in program’s history to capture the Mike Moser Memorial Trophy as the top player in the country.
Scoring 1,362 career points with the Cougars, Biegler is Regina’s all-time leader, with 23.1 points per game. He also led the team to its first national championship appearance in 1989 with a run to the semi-finals.

Dave King coached the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey team to three conference titles and the program’s lone national championship in 1983. (Huskie Athletics/Canada West)
Rounding out the Saskatchewan inductees for 2026-27 is Huskies men’s hockey coaching great Dave King.
A four-year player with the Huskies between 1968 and 1972, King became the program’s head coach in 1979 and led the team through some of its most successful years in the 1980s.
King was behind the bench for three consecutive Canada West titles in 1981, 1982 and 1983, which included a trio of trips to the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union championship games.
On his third attempt, King led the Huskies to a 6-2 win over the Concordia Stingers to capture the program’s first and only national championship.
The North Battleford product went on to coach the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets and Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL.
He also became the first coach to lead Canada to a gold medal at the World Junior Championship in 1982, before going on to coach Canada at three Olympic Games.
Joining Spagrud and Biegler as inductees in the Canada West Hall of Fame in the athlete category are Vanessa Kovacs (Trinity Western women’s soccer), Loriann Ludwig (Manitoba women’s volleyball) and Bonnie MacRae-Kilb (Calgary women’s volleyball).
Steve Knowles (Alberta men’s hockey) joins King in the builder category, while coach Len Vickery (Alberta men’s soccer) and the Manitoba Bisons 1990-92 women’s volleyball team will also be enshrined for the upcoming season.
